Between April 17 and April 18 during the night a long heavy component was put in its place. The component measures ninety two meters and weighs more than three hundred tons. It connects KVV8 to the Bio Energy facility at Energihamnen.

Work on transporting and assembling the pipe bridge has been underway for more than a year. Every step has been planned in detail. Potential disruptions and risks have been carefully considered, and measures have been taken to minimize any possible issues.

– The total weight of the transport was 800 tons. Lidingövägen is designed for vehicles with a maximum weight of 64 tons. But everything went smoothly. We finished two hours ahead of schedule. You could say it was an uneventful night – exactly as we had hoped, says Erik Skoglund, Project Manager for WP2.

– Now the work continues. Today we received 30 concrete trucks. The concrete will form a slab on which we will place the crane used to install additional sections of the pipe bridge. The crane arrives on Wednesday, and five smaller pipe bridge sections will be delivered on April 24. These will be lifted into place the following week, so work is progressing at a rapid pace.

A well-planned lift

– Installations of this kind require extreme precision. We had a very limited time window. The fact that everything went according to plan is crucial for maintaining the schedule going forward, says Tobias Pelicano, Deputy Director at Beccs Stockholm.

The project is not without its challenges. The geopolitical situation, for example, may affect both us and our subcontractors.

– We are monitoring how global developments impact our deliveries, such as shipping from the Far East.

The plan remains intact

Ahead of the lift, the project was slightly behind schedule, but time was recovered, and with the pipe installation completed, everything is now fully back on track.

– We experienced delays in the workflow, but together with our contractors we found ways to accelerate progress. This demonstrates a very important capability, as every megaproject encounters challenges. We have now shown that we are capable of handling a wide range of challenges. We have done it more than once, and we can do it again, concludes Egil Nybakk, Director of Beccs Stockholm.
