The agreements cover permanent carbon removals that will enable Axfast and Fastpartner to address fossil emissions that will be difficult to avoid also in the future.
Axfast has signed a 10-year agreement for carbon removals corresponding to 100 percent of the emissions associated with the district heating it purchases from Stockholm Exergi. Deliveries are planned to begin in 2030.
Fastpartner has signed an agreement to purchase 1,000 tonnes of permanent carbon removals per year over a 15-year period.
– We are proud to have signed agreements for permanent carbon removals with Axfast and Fastpartner. It is very encouraging to see more and more companies moving from climate ambitions to concrete action, and that interest from Swedish businesses in purchasing permanent carbon removals is increasing, says Anders Egelrud, CEO of Stockholm Exergi.
– For us, it is important to contribute to tangible climate solutions. By investing in carbon removals, we can complement our own mitigation measures and take another step forward in our climate efforts, says Johan Berfenstam, CEO of Axfast.
– Sustainability is an integral part of our business. By purchasing permanent carbon removals, we are taking another step in our climate work while also contributing to the development of the technologies that will be needed to achieve global climate targets, says Christopher Johansson, CEO of Fastpartner.
The agreements with Axfast and Fastpartner are the latest in a series of deals concluded over a short period of time. Most recently, the City of Stockholm announced that it has signed an agreement to purchase permanent carbon removals from Stockholm Exergi.
