Construction is underway at Värtan, where the new facility has three main components:
Carbon capture: capturing biogenic CO₂ from the plant’s flue gases
Cooling and interim storage: liquefying and temporarily storing the captured CO₂
Loading and transport: preparing the liquefied CO₂ for transport to permanent geological storage via Northern Lights
Beccs Stockholm is being delivered with Saipem, responsible for engineering, procurement and construction. The architectural design is being developed in close dialogue with the City of Stockholm to integrate the facility into the urban landscape at Värtahamnen.
