We’re building a large-scale carbon capture facility – a complex project with many important milestones. Here’s an overview of what’s happening and when.
Cycle path detour
When: From May 5, 2025, for approximately three years
Scope: The cycle path along Norra Hamnvägen is being redirected to a temporary pedestrian and cycle path along Lidingövägen and the construction site.
Impact: The new path is slightly narrower than the previous one, and we recommend lowering speed through the narrow sections.
Closure of Norra Hamnvägen
When: From May 5, 2025, for approximately three years
Scope: Norra Hamnvägen – the road running through Energihamnen – is closed to establish a fenced-off construction area for the BECCS project.
Impact: Vehicle traffic will be rerouted via Lidingövägen.
Demolition of existing process equipment
When: From May through August 2025, possibly extending slightly
Scope: Dismantling of existing process equipment, including tanks in Energihamnen and parts of the quay (Kaj 503).
Impact: Occasional noise may occur.
Quay reconstruction
When: Summer and autumn/winter 2025
Scope: Reconstruction of the quay (Kaj 503) from both land and water.
Impact: Some noise may occur.
Construction of main building for BECCS Stockholm
When: Starting summer 2025
Scope: Groundwork and foundation laying for the main building of the BECCS facility.
Impact: Some noise may occur.
Construction of the pipeline bridge between Värtaverket and the BECCS facility
When: From September 2025 until summer 2026
Scope: A new pipeline bridge and connecting pipes will be built, running from Värtaverket along Kolargatan, across Lidingövägen, and into the new BECCS facility.
Impact: Some noise and construction traffic are expected during this period.
