Beccs Stockholm has reached two important milestones. After more than a year of demolition, groundworks and foundation construction, the foundation for the facility is now complete. At the same time, the first steel structures have been erected, marking the start of the next phase of construction.
The foundation works were carried out in partnership with Skanska and involved extensive work in Energihamnen. Less than a year and a half ago, the site was occupied by storage tanks, conveyors and industrial buildings. Today, it features a completed foundation slab and a new quay under construction.
The works have included:
- more than 2,000 tonnes of reinforcing steel
- almost 1,900 steel pipe piles with a combined length of around 45 kilometres
- 11,500 cubic metres of concrete.
Despite a demanding schedule, the work has been completed thanks to close collaboration between Stockholm Exergi, Skanska and other project partners.
With the foundation now in place, the project is entering a new phase together with Saipem, the main partner responsible for constructing the facility. The first steel structures have now been installed and, over the coming months, the building will gradually begin to take shape above ground.
